To prepare your skin for your procedure:

  • Avoid tanning or sun exposure for 24–48 hours prior to your appointment. Please do not arrive with sunburned skin.

  • Do not have facials, chemical peels, or skin treatments within 2 weeks of your procedure.

  • Discontinue Vitamin A or Retinol products at least one month prior to treatment.

  • Avoid working out on the day of your appointment, as increased circulation can affect pigment retention.

  • Do not receive Botox or dermal fillers within 2 weeks of your appointment.

  • Avoid Fish Oil or Vitamin E supplements for one week, as they can act as natural blood thinners.

  • Do not drink alcohol for 24–48 hours before your procedure.

  • Avoid coffee or caffeine on the day of your treatment.

  • Do not take Aspirin or Ibuprofen before your procedure, as these medications thin the blood and may increase bleeding.

Eyebrow Tattoo Preparation

BROWS

BEFORE your EYEBROW appointment:

  • Avoid tweezing, waxing, picking, or electrolysis 24–48 hours before the procedure.

  • Electrolysis should be avoided for one week prior.

  • Do not tint your eyebrows within 3 days of your appointment.

What to expect AFTER your BROW treatment

You may experience mild tightness in the brow area, a temporary “heavy brow” sensation, or a slight headache. Brows will appear darker for the first few days, followed by light scabbing or peeling. The final colour will soften as healing progresses and will be fully visible within 3–4 weeks.

Keep the area clean and apply a small amount of aftercare ointment as directed. Avoid makeup directly on the brows during healing. If you have natural brow hair, gently brush them upward with a spoolie or brow gel to keep them in place.

Eyeliner Tattoo Preparation

What to expect BEFORE your EYELINER treatment

  • Do not wear contact lenses during the procedure or for 24 hours afterward.

  • Remove eyelash extensions before your appointment and avoid them for 2 weeks after treatment.

  • Bring sunglasses to wear on the way home, as your eyes may be light-sensitive.

  • Avoid lash tinting or perming for 2 days prior to treatment.

  • Do not use an eyelash curler on the day of your appointment.

What to expect AFTER your EYELINER treatment

Your eyelids may appear slightly swollen or puffy, similar to after crying. Avoid mascara or curling your lashes for at least one week.

The pigment will appear darker initially, followed by light scabbing or peeling. The final colour will soften and settle within 3–4 weeks.

Keep the area clean and apply a thin layer of aftercare ointment as directed. Avoid makeup on the eyelids during healing.

Lip Blush Preparation

LIPS

BEFORE your LIP appointment:

  • If you are prone to cold sores, you will need an antiviral prescription. Most physicians recommend beginning the medication 3 days before the procedure and continuing for 7–10 days.

What to expect AFTER your LIPBLUSH treatment

Your lips may feel dry, swollen, chapped, or slightly tender for a few days following treatment. For the first 2–3 days:

• Drink through a straw
• Avoid kissing
• Avoid getting toothpaste directly on the lips
• Avoid spicy foods
• Do not use lip plumpers

Your lips will appear darker for the first few days, followed by light peeling as they heal. The final colour will settle within 3–4 weeks. Keep the lips clean and apply a thin layer of aftercare ointment as directed. Avoid lipstick or other lip products during healing.

General aftercare guidelines

  • Use a clean, fresh pillowcase for the first few nights after your procedure.

  • Allow any scabbing or dry skin to shed naturally. Do not pick or scratch the area, as this can cause scarring or pigment loss.

  • Avoid facials, Botox, chemical treatments, or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks.

  • Avoid hot, sweaty exercise for at least one week.

  • Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 4 weeks. Wear a hat when outdoors.

  • Avoid heavy sweating and long hot showers for the first 10 days.

  • Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days.

  • Avoid swimming, lakes, pools, or hot tubs for 10 days.

  • Avoid applying makeup, skincare products, or sunscreen directly on the treated area during the healing process.

  • Do not rub, pick, or scratch the treated area.

AFTERCARE for your TATTOO treatment

  • Do not apply soap, shampoo, cleansers, or cosmetics to the treated area for the first 5 days.

  • Avoid saunas, steam rooms, baths, hot yoga, or excessive sweating for at least 5 days.

  • Avoid swimming in chlorinated pools for 2 weeks.

  • Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning beds for 6 weeks.

During healing, 25–40% of the pigment may soften or fade, which is a normal part of the process. While the surface of the skin may appear healed quickly, full healing and pigment stabilization for camouflage treatments can take 2–10 months, and sometimes longer for darker skin tones.

Once fully healed, always apply SPF to the treated area to help preserve colour and prevent fading.

Be cautious with chemical peels, microdermabrasion, laser treatments, or strong anti-aging products, as these may contribute to pigment fading.

Red Roses Close-Up

Following these aftercare guidelines will help ensure your cosmetic tattoo heals beautifully and maintains its colour and definition over time. If you have any questions during your healing process, please reach out.

A special note about previously tattooed brows

If you have existing cosmetic tattooing on your brows, I may recommend laser tattoo removal before proceeding with a new brow tattoo.

The reason is simple: old pigment can significantly impact the final result. Over time, cosmetic tattoo pigments often fade unevenly, change colour, blur, or migrate beyond the desired shape. Attempting to tattoo over old work without first addressing the existing pigment can limit what is possible and compromise the overall outcome.

My goal is always to create brows that look soft, natural, and flattering to your features. In some cases, lightening or removing previous tattooing allows me to work with a clean canvas, giving us greater flexibility with shape, colour selection, and overall design.

While it may add an extra step to the process, taking the time to properly prepare the skin often leads to significantly better long-term results. I'm happy to make a personal recommendation for a laser tattoo removal specialist.
